Himalayan salt lamps are ideal for warmly illuminating your space, but also harbor healing qualities! The negative salt irons released by heating are said to help keep you calm, improve sleep, and increase levels of serotonin in the brain. Even when not in use, they add a natural touch to your ensemble, perfect for lodge-worthy living room looks and eclectic master suites alike. This one measures 7'' H x 7'' W x 7'' D.
Himalayan pink salt lamps are a great way to naturally enhance your mood or to help you relax and unwind at the end of the day. At the same time and on the opposite side of the coin, HPS lamps are great for improving concentration. Again, this is due to the effect of the negative ions on your body, improving blood and oxygen supply to the brain and other organs, as well as providing a boost of serotonin – the neurotransmitter which makes us (literally) feel happy.

As for the idea that water vapor in the room attracts pollutants, then sticks to the surface of the lamp, that, too, makes little sense, he said. Some pollutants in the air might, by chance, stick to water vapor on the surface of the lukewarm piece of rock salt, but there's no evidence that the meager heat produced by a light bulb could produce significant amounts of pollutant filtering, he said.
At any rate, we plugged the unit into an electrical outlet, dimmed the light to a very pleasing dim orange color and placed the lamp on a table. The lamp has been turned on 24/7 for a couple of weeks now. The dimmer is cold to the touch and we have experienced no issues whatsoever with the product. We are very pleased with the lamp, its appearance, and the nice pinking-orange dimmable warm glow it casts.
I looked up the science, because I'm really curious and frankly want a solution to the mold growth in my house. It seems that salt (NaCl) will only release negative ions at temperatures over 800 degrees Celsius. Some other chemicals present in the salt may reduce this temperature, but only slightly. So it seems unlikely a salt lamp will be releasing any ions. If it does, the negative ions will be chlorine gas - a poison. Chlorine is used, of course, as a disinfectant so it isn't completely impossible that low levels of chlorine gas emission could produce some of the positive effects described by users of salt lamps -- reduction in airborne pathogens could limit mold growth and allergies. But I'm
Himalayan salt lamps purify the air through hygroscopy. The salt lamp attracts water from surrounding areas and absorbs the water vapor molecules along with any particles that those molecules may be carrying. The light inside of the lamp helps the salt to warm up, making that water evaporate back into the air while the unwanted, foreign particles stay trapped inside the salt. Science is pretty neat, am I right?

I bought three of these and gave two for Christmas gifts and they are amazing!! I noticed the minute I opened the box this wonderful fresh smell, like a salty ocean breeze! Each one was beautiful and uniquely different. The bulb is included and everyone especially loved the dimmer switch feature. These are indeed the real deal and are carved from Himalayan salt. They're simply beautiful and we're and exceptional deal at less than $15.00!!
This claim has existed sporadically in the scientific literature for decades, but ultimately is not supported by current science. A 2013 review of psychological effects attributed to air ions, which looked at 33 studies from 1957 to 2012 evaluating “the effects of air ionization on depression, anxiety, mood states, and subjective feelings of mental well-being”, concluded:

This Pulpit Rock Himalayan Glow Natural 8.5" Salt Lamp is mined by hand in the Himalayan Mountains. Each piece is selected for its unique color and purity. The salt comes from a 250 million-year-old dried up seabed, from the time when the earth was covered with water and it was in that original ocean, that life began and it is believed, that salt had something to do with it. It is that ancient salt which comes to you in the form of Pulpit Rock Himalayan Glow Natural 8.5" Salt Lamp and which...
not sure enough heat would ever be produced by a salt lamp to give off Chlorine gas. At least you don't need to worry about being poisoned by your lamps. The salt may absorb water, and form solution sodium and calcium in solution, which could have an ionic character owing to the polar nature of water -- my knowledge of chemistry isn't sophisticated enough to know -- but it will re-crystalise into salt when the water evaporates. Incidentally, there are absolutely ZERO scientific studies of salt lamps.

We’ve had a salt lamp in the bedroom for many years, however we don’t know if it makes a significant difference or not. Shortly after purchasing it, the little “light” that was inside stopped working. I have never purchased anything that has this kind of light to last very long as the lights are very cheap and poor quality. So we always wonder if the salt lamp has any beneficial effects at all without the heat and light coming from the bulb inside.
"Salt crystal is naturally hygroscopic, absorbing water molecules from the air. You will notice if your salt lamp remains unlit for long periods of time, it will begin to 'cry.' The heat from a small light bulb keeps these beautiful crystals dry and in turn releases negative ions (the healthy ones found in abundance in places like oceans, waterfalls, even your shower) into the air," according to the site.

Negative ions have long been considered healthy; the sea air, mountain air and the air around swiftly running water is high in negative ions. Indoor air, recirculated air, and air around electronic equipment is very low in negative ions. Many office workers who suffer health complaints around fluorescent lighting and computer monitors report considerably less fatigue and headaches if the concentration of negative ions in the air is increased. Why negative ions may be beneficial is only partially understood.
A few isolated studies have shown modest and equivocal effects from negative ionization. For instance, in 1981, researchers at the University of Surrey in England looked at the incidence of stuffiness, nausea, dizziness and headaches in people in an office environment. They found office air had fewer negative ions than is typical outside. So the team conducted a double-blind study and found that the reintroduction of ions reduced the incidence of these symptoms over a 12-week period. The findings were published in the Journal of Environmental Psychology. A 1993 study published in the Journal of Human Ergonomics found that negative ions could slightly affect people's circadian rhythms, although they had no impact on anxiety or exercise levels.

Real Himalayan salt lamps are made of salt so it’s not surprising that they’re fragile objects. A good manufacturer knows this and has return policies that are flexible since there could be some damage in transit. If a salt lamp’s maker is extremely strict (like a “NO RETURNS” policy), then it makes you wonder if it’s a scam operation. This might not necessarily be the case, but some fake retailers have been known not to permit any returns because they know they’re not giving you the real thing.

Said to improve sleep by increasing levels of serotonin in the brain and adding calming energy to the room, Himalayan salt lamps are a must-have for any bedroom. Take this one for example: made in Nepal, it features a circular wood base topped off by a natural 8" rock-shaped design that has been handcrafted from salt crystals with a pink hue. When you turn the light on inside, it casts a warm, amber-hued glow over your ensemble. Arrives in a set of two.
Mauritane 8.5" Salt Lamp is not only visually stunning but provide innumerable health benefits. It is natural negative ion generators. Simply put, salt attracts moisture. The interaction of humid air with the surface of the salt crystal releases negative ions. The negative ions bind to the position ions that are created by electronic devices known as "electronic smog" (computers, television screens, telephones, microwaves, etc.). The positively charged ions lose their damaging characteristics...
