After having this salt lamp for two months, the light bulb make a loud noise and sparked. I tried putting in a new bulb and it still wouldn't work. This ended up happening to three of the five salt lamps we purchased (I purchased five of these at once from this seller). I tried getting in contact with the seller and they never responded so now I'm stuck with 3 salt lamps that can't be used.
If you've been scratching your head over what exactly a Himalayan salt lamp is, here's a quick explainer. This wellness product is created out of pink salt crystals that are native to areas close to the Himalayas, like Pakistan. The pink salt is used in everything from cooking slabs for grilling to what's known as "salt therapy" at local spas. When it comes to the lamps, the pink salt is thought to release negative ions into your space, which would be able to get rid of dust particles that may affect your health. Because of that, many believe that it can do everything from increasing your energy levels to alleviating symptoms of allergies. There's also claims that these pink salt lamps can even help boost your overall mood and can help you sleep more soundly.
You wasted your money if you bought salt lamps to increase serotonin or boost blood flow. There isn’t a shred of credible scientific evidence to substantiate that claim. Do real research before you buy into something that has fantastic claims attached to it. Much less spend real money on something you hope will work. Amazing how much money is to be made from naivety. In the age of information, ignorance is a choice.

Ions cannot be produced without an energy source. An “energy source” means heat or flame, radioactivity, frictional rubbing, electricity, evaporation, etc. Ions can also be produced by high-energy events, such as an open flame or a glowing hot object. Evaporating water will produce negative ions in the air and, as a consequence, leave the damaging positive charges behind in the water that hasn’t yet evaporated.
You’ll typically find Himalayan salt lamps that give off a warm pinkish or orange hue. There is such a thing as a white Himalayan salt lamp, but it’s extremely rare and a lot more pricey than the colored ones. So if you find a white salt crystal lamp that’s not substantially more expensive than the pink/orange versions, steer clear because this is likely an imposter.

Salt lamps, which are merely light bulbs of varying wattages placed within blocks of rock salt of varying sizes, have become an increasingly popular product in the alternative medicine scene and are marketed as “natural ionizers.” An ionizer, in theory, produces ions, which are atoms or molecules with a net positive or negative charge caused by an uneven number of protons to electrons.

Our 100% premium and authentic Himalayan Salt Lamps come from the highest quality mine in the world - the Khewra Salt Mine in Pakistan. This pristine crystal salt is hundreds of millions of years old and, as a result, has special properties and a high mineral content. The bulb inside the lamp heats the salt causing it to emit negative ions that naturally clean the air in your home. So, in addition to being an original and beautiful work of art, these Himalayan Salt Lamps also have a significant health benefit. The negative ions in Himalayan salt lamps can help you breathe easier. Inside of our lungs are tiny hairs known as cilia which sweep away impurities. When these impurities are removed, we can breathe more easily. Many breathing problems are linked to tiny particles that are hard to remove with a broom or vacuum in our homes because in many cases, they are not even visible. Therefore, increasing the internal motion of the cilia can help screen out harmful particles that can make breathing difficult. Negative ions released by Himalayan salt lamps can help encourage the sweeping motion of these cilia.

Due to the natural variation in Himalayan Crystal salt, weight, size, color and shape may vary.
This claim stems from research performed on laboratory rats who were under anesthesia and essentially pumped directly with high concentrations of negatively ionized air. It goes without saying that humans are not rats, and a that specifically designed laboratory ionization instruments produce a whole lot more ions than a salt lamp, which, not to drive this point home too much, they do not.

The Himalayan pink salt lamp lets off this beautiful pink/orange glow that is reminiscent of a sunset. Just as the blue light is energizing, the slower wavelengths in the warmer colors are relaxing to the mind and easier on the eyes. I think about it like the difference in the natural energy cycle at high noon and at sunset. The salt lamp is great for balancing the extra blue light.

As I described earlier, a Himalayan salt lamp by its salty nature is able to easily attract water vapor to it. With this water vapor often comes indoor air pollutants, including allergens, mold and bacteria. When the water hits the heated lamp, the salt traps the pollutants but releases the water vapor. This cycle repeats while the lamp is on and warm. By removing pollutants from the air, the salt lamp leaves you with cleaner, healthier air.
In 1966, a hospital in Jerusalem conducted a study of thirty-eight infants suffering from respiratory problems. They cared for half of the infants in a ward without any ion change, and cared for the other half in a ward where a negative-ion generator was in use. “The researchers reported that neg-ions without any other treatment “ that is, no drugs “ seemed to cure attacks of asthma and bronchitis more quickly than drugs, antibiotics included… children treated with neg-ions were less prone to ‘rebound attacks’ (relapses)… the scientific report said that the tests ‘demonstrated that atmospheric ions have an effect on infants, especially those suffering from asthmatic bronchitis. Less scientifically, they found that the babies didn’t cry as often and as loudly as they did in normal air.” The Ion Effect, by Fred Soyka, p. 57, 1991.
[…] While some dispute the health claims of this type of salt, saying the mineral content is too small to make any sort of recognizable difference, many others use Himalayan salt as a healthy addition to their diet. Some people even enjoy the soft glow of a Himalayan salt lamp in their house as it is said to reduce positive ions in the home environment, improving health and well-being. […]
Crystal salt comes from many places in the world. Many resources online will have you believe that only Himalayan salt is “real” and “authentic” but this is false information and most of the “sources” don’t actually own salt lamps or sell them. We have imported salt lamps from Poland (the birth place of salt lamps) and even Iran and have tested them with countless devices all proven to work the way salt lamps work.

However, there is no evidence that these lamps produce meaningful amounts of negatively charged particles, or ions, or that they reduce pollutants in the air. To assess the health claims, scientists need to answer three basic questions: Does Himalayan salt contain any special ingredients that could somehow positively affect health? Do negative ions benefit health? And if they do benefit health, do these lamps produce them in any quantity? Malin said. On all three counts, there is little-to-no evidence supporting the claims, he said.
