While “radioactive waves” are not—strictly speaking—a thing, what the author is likely talking about is an electromagnetic field generated by household electronics. The issue is that the only problem a salt lamp (via its dubious negative ionizer mechanism) would theoretically solve is a preponderance of positively charged ions in the air which would be in turn neutralized by the negative ions. An electromagnetic field will only generate ions if the voltage is high enough to cause an electric discharge, and the electromagnetic fields generated by household appliances are not that that strong, per the WHO:
k) Monthly period (Menstruation) complaints can also be alleviated by using a salt sachet warming it for half an hour to get rid of the cramps, placing it on top of the abdomen with hot water bottle. Using the Sole’ in the batch improves the body’s electric current, therefore making the body’s ability to heal itself. The Himalayan salt crystal solution can also be used for rheumatism, wounds, insect bites, after care from operation and aids in relief of skin irritations.
The Negative Ions in the rock salt crystals clears our the bronchial passages therefore ridding of bacteria and microbes. Himalayan salt crystal lamps are known to be natural Negative Ion generators. Himalayan Salt crystals lamps are naturally known to attract moisture (Hygroscopic). Because it attracts moisture the Himalayan salt lamp benefits are enormous as it aids in the relief of hay fever, sinus related symptoms, asthma as well as allergies.
However, there is no evidence that these lamps produce meaningful amounts of negatively charged particles, or ions, or that they reduce pollutants in the air. To assess the health claims, scientists need to answer three basic questions: Does Himalayan salt contain any special ingredients that could somehow positively affect health? Do negative ions benefit health? And if they do benefit health, do these lamps produce them in any quantity? Malin said. On all three counts, there is little-to-no evidence supporting the claims, he said.

I bought three of these and gave two for Christmas gifts and they are amazing!! I noticed the minute I opened the box this wonderful fresh smell, like a salty ocean breeze! Each one was beautiful and uniquely different. The bulb is included and everyone especially loved the dimmer switch feature. These are indeed the real deal and are carved from Himalayan salt. They're simply beautiful and we're and exceptional deal at less than $15.00!!
I bought a salt lamp on a Friday night and plugged it in 24/7 until today (Monday). I had a tremendous headache on Saturday and Sunday mornings, relieved after I left the house. Monday I was home all day and the headache became rather violent -- so much so that I started looking up info about salt lamps and headaches on the internet. I am not prone to headaches nor have I ever been! I unplugged the lamp and received immediate relief! Needless to say, I was somewhat stunned by this revelation.
